\n\tLesson\/Unit Summary: <\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This lesson plan aims to help junior secondary students to master subject-verb agreement. It adopts the idea of language across the curriculum. It links the English language with integrated science. Students are expected to write a short description about the respiratory system as the final learning outcome.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present tense and subject-verb agreement are some general features of informational texts. Two videos on interesting facts about body parts are used to arouse students\u2019 interest and draw their attention to the relationship between the subject and the verb. To help students complete the writing task on the respiratory system, another video is shown to build up students\u2019 subject knowledge.<\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catering for learning diversity is considered in the design of this lesson plan. For instance, in the card matching game, two sets of materials, one for stronger learners and one for weaker learners, are prepared. Stronger learners are required to fill in the blanks with verbs complying to subject-verb agreement while weaker learners simply need to match the subjects with the given verbs.<\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
