I have also learned that it is always useful to prepare an extended task and to use more songs and videos in grammar teaching.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6699;\">Carmen:<\/span> <\/strong><i>I have learnt how to design different learning materials and activities for different levels of students. I have learnt how to organize the lesson plan in a way that students can follow easily and how to present the grammar objectives clearly. I have also gained lots of inspiration from the sharing of the student teachers such as the selection of an appropriate text to introduce a grammar item and the use of pictures to explain abstract concepts.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ffa07a;\"><strong>Celine:<\/strong><\/span> <em>I learned a lot from my peers about how to include creative ideas through songs and videos in <\/em><em>the teaching of <\/em><em>conditional <\/em><em>sentences<\/em><em>, <\/em><em>how to <\/em><em>use a game to find out the murderer in <\/em><em>the <\/em><em>teaching <\/em><em>of \u201c<\/em><em>modal + have + past participle<\/em><em>\u201d for making deductions. I also benefit from modifying my own lesson plan with the comments from my peers.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #33cc99;\"><strong>Chloe:<\/strong> <\/span><em>This project <\/em><em>enables<\/em><em> me<\/em><em> to<\/em><em> realize that English teachers should be life<\/em><em>&#8211;<\/em><em>long learners. I saw many experienced English teachers striving for suggestions on improving their lessons. It let me realize that teachers should be life<\/em><em>-long<\/em><em> learners. We should never stop improving ourselves.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc33;\"><strong>Colin: <\/strong><\/span><i>I was not confident of designing lessons before participating in the project. I was not familiar with how to contextualise grammar teaching. Through the project, I learned a lot about grammar teaching and lesson planning. Yet, this is not the end of my learning process. The project has made me become more aware of the importance of effective lesson teaching, so I will continue to look for new and interesting approaches to help my students learn English and grammar. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\"><strong>Elaine:<\/strong><\/span> <em>I pay more attention to the transition between different activities, and I <\/em><em>have become <\/em><em>more confident <\/em><em>of<\/em><em> teaching readers with <\/em><em>effective teaching skills.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Gideon:<\/strong> <\/span><i>I got more ideas about different innovative strategies to be used in an English grammar lesson. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Gwangmin:<\/strong><\/span> <em>It was a great opportunity for me to participate in this project to learn a variety of things to prepare myself to become a teacher. It allowed me to reflect on my learning at HKIED as well as to prepare for the future.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ee82ee;\">Heather:<\/span> <\/strong><em>In this project, I learnt <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n<ul>\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><em>How to design a more innovative lesson plan;<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><em>How to make a lesson suitable for students with different learning styles and of different levels;<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><em>How to gradually increase the level of difficulties of the grammar topics to be taught.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff3300;\"><strong>Janet: <\/strong><\/span>(Grammar Project) <em>I have definitely enhanced my knowledge and skills in designing English grammar lessons. <\/em><em>I have learned how to <\/em><em>construct grammar lessons <\/em><em>in<\/em><em> meaningful context<\/em><em>s<\/em><em>. I have also <\/em><em>realised<\/em><em> the<\/em><em> advantage<\/em><em> of <\/em><em>including<\/em><em> current events <\/em><em>when designing instructional materials<\/em><em>. My understanding of English grammar is deepened \u2013 especially in terms of <\/em><em>how different <\/em><em>meaning<\/em><em>s are<\/em><em> made <\/em><em>through different grammatical choices.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">(Reader Project) <em>It is a great opportunity for me to know more about how to teach reader<\/em><em>s<\/em><em> and how to include <\/em><em>different activities <\/em><em>in reader lessons. <\/em><em>I believe I have made g<\/em><em>reat improvements through the process <\/em><em>of<\/em> <em>drafting and revising. Comments and suggestions from teachers and peers have greatly inspired me.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #3366cc;\"><strong>Jason Ma: <\/strong><\/span><em>After joining this project, I think I <\/em><em>have<\/em><em> more confiden<\/em><em>ce<\/em><em> in <\/em><em>using the <\/em><em>task-based approach and have become more efficient in lesson planning. I think I am more ready than ever to become a real teacher.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #00cc33;\"><strong>Jason Poon: <\/strong><\/span>(Grammar Project) <em>I realise that it is important for students to <\/em><em>learn grammar<\/em><em> forms <\/em><em>as well as<\/em><em> to understand the meanings conveyed through <\/em><em>different forms<\/em><em>. <\/em><em>I<\/em><em>t is important <\/em><em>for teachers to design<\/em><em> a meaningful context when introducing grammar items, so that students <\/em><em>can notice<\/em><em> in what situations <\/em><em>certain items are used.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">(Reader Project) <em>This project has consolidated my knowledge about the pedagogical theories and teaching skills acquired during my 5-year study <\/em><em>at<\/em><em> EdUHK. I can apply them during <\/em><em>the lesson planning and materials development in this project.  This project has given me a golden opportunity to turn theory into practice.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #40e0d0;\">Karena:<\/span> <\/strong><em>The professional exchange among peers and between the project leader and us has reminded me of the importance of being student-oriented when planning lessons. I learnt a lot about how to design authentic contexts and meaning-driven lesson plans. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff33cc;\"><strong>Katy<\/strong>:<\/span> <em>The most important thing I learnt in the process is how to strike a balance between creativity, effectiveness and applicability. Previously, I always prioritised creativity when planning lessons. But after revising my lesson plans several times, I paid more attention to <\/em><em>their practicality<\/em><em>. This prompted me to think critically about how to put new ideas into practice.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #6666cc;\"><strong>Naomi<\/strong>:<\/span> <em>In terms of lesson design, I think I gradually learned to use more multimedia <\/em><em>resources<\/em><em> in my lessons as I discovered <\/em><em>they are<\/em><em> what most students would love to learn with. In terms of personal growth, I <\/em><em>have <\/em><em>become more willing to express myself because the positive atmosphere created in the weekly meetings <\/em><em>allowed<\/em><em> me to share my thoughts comfortably.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #999900;\"><strong>Nichole: <\/strong><\/span><em>This project makes me believe that learning English is more than learning a language. We should treat and teach it as a communication tool. <\/em><em>An <\/em><em>authentic context and opportunities to use English <\/em><em>for communication <\/em><em>are important in English lessons. <\/em><em> <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #dda0dd;\"><strong>Paula:<\/strong><\/span> <em>This project has prepared me <\/em><em>for my teaching career.<\/em><em> I have learned many practical teaching skills (e<\/em><em>.<\/em><em>g. material<\/em><em>s<\/em><em> develop<\/em><em>ment<\/em><em> skills, classroom management skills), and <\/em><em>I <\/em><em>have <\/em><em>acquired a deeper<\/em><em> understanding <\/em><em>of<\/em><em> some theoretical concepts, such as inductive learning and scaffolding.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ffa500;\"><strong>Renee<\/strong>:<\/span> <i>The project benefits me in terms of how to conduct professional discussions, how to modify lesson plans (e.g. providing an interesting context), and how to simplify instructions for learners.<\/i> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #66cc33;\"><strong>Sharon:<\/strong><\/span> <em>As a teacher, I have learnt <\/em><em>the importance of using<\/em><em> student-friendly language. <\/em><em>I have also recognised the need to <\/em><em>shar<\/em><em>e<\/em> <em>the <\/em><em>lesson objectives with students and <\/em><em>to have<\/em><em> natural transitions <\/em><em>between<\/em> <em>activities<\/em><em>. <\/em><em>A<\/em><em>s an observer<\/em><em> of my peers\u2019 teaching<\/em><em>, I <\/em><em>could draw on their strengths and recognise<\/em><em> some common teaching <\/em><em>problems, which serve<\/em><em> as reminders <\/em><em>for<\/em><em> my future teaching.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff3366;\"><strong>Winnie:<\/strong><\/span> <em>This project brought me some innovative ideas and activities to teach grammar<\/em><em>,<\/em><em> and raised my awareness of relating grammar to daily experience.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Yvette:<\/strong> <\/span><em>I have learned a lot about how to give students language input with the help of songs and games.
