Students are first introduced to 10 colour words by listening to a \u2018colour song\u2019. This is followed by a ball drawing activity to let students have oral practice of the colour words. Then students are guided to read the reader and learn the colour words and animal names through pictures. Some distractors are used to check their understanding. Inductive learning is adopted to draw students\u2019 attention to subject-verb agreement in the repeated sentence structure \u201cSubject + <em>likes<\/em><em>\/like<\/em> &#8230;\u201d. This is followed by a speaking activity, whereby students describe to their classmates their favourite animals\/things.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Level of Students: <\/strong>Junior&nbsp;Primary<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Duration: <\/strong>105 minutes<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Learning Objectives:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\">By the end of the unit, students should be able to:<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\">1. Use the sentence structure &#8220;Subject + <em>likes\/like<\/em> &#8230;&#8221;&nbsp;to describe preferences;<br>\n\t2. Identify the 10 colours (<em>red<\/em>,<em> green<\/em>, <em>yellow<\/em>, <em>purple<\/em>, <em>orange<\/em>, <em>brown<\/em>, <em>black<\/em>, <em>white<\/em>, <em>pink<\/em> and <em>blue<\/em>) in words and some animal names (including <em>duck<\/em>, <em>bear<\/em>, <em>cat<\/em>, <em>dog<\/em> and <em>dinosaur<\/em> from the reader, and others: <em>pig<\/em>,<em> sheep<\/em>, <em>horse<\/em>, <em>cow<\/em>, <em>chicken<\/em>, <em>lion<\/em>, <em>tiger<\/em>, <em>monkey<\/em>, <em>elephant <\/em>and <em>giraffe<\/em>);<br>\n\t3.
