\n\tLesson\/Unit Summary: <\/strong>The focus of the unit is on differentiating colour terms and using them to describe animals and things. Students are first introduced to 10 colour words by listening to a \u2018colour song\u2019. This is followed by a ball drawing activity to let students have oral practice of the colour words. Then students are guided to read the reader and learn the colour words and animal names through pictures. Some distractors are used to check their understanding. Inductive learning is adopted to draw students\u2019 attention to subject-verb agreement in the repeated sentence structure \u201cSubject + likes<\/em>\/like<\/em> …\u201d. This is followed by a speaking activity, whereby students describe to their classmates their favourite animals\/things.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identify the 10 colours (red<\/em>, green<\/em>, yellow<\/em>, purple<\/em>, orange<\/em>, brown<\/em>, black<\/em>, white<\/em>, pink<\/em> and blue<\/em>) in words and some animal names (including duck<\/em>, bear<\/em>, cat<\/em>, dog<\/em> and dinosaur<\/em> from the reader, and others: pig<\/em>, sheep<\/em>, horse<\/em>, cow<\/em>, chicken<\/em>, lion<\/em>, tiger<\/em>, monkey<\/em>, elephant <\/em>and giraffe<\/em>);
\n\t3. Describe animals with target colour words.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
