Lesson/Unit Summary: In this unit, students learn about how to use the present tense to talk about weekly activities. The lessons make use of different visual aids including PowerPoint slides, videos and hand puppets to cater for learner diversity. An information gap activity and a class survey are designed to allow students to use the target structure for purposeful communication. Listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are integrated in this grammar unit.  

Level of Students: Junior Primary 

Lesson Duration: 140 minutes (4 lessons, each lesson is about 35 mins)

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. Tell weekly activities and the days of the week correctly
  2. Ask about people’s weekly activities using the question structure “What do you do on _____days?”
  3. Use the present tense and the sentence structure “I (weekly activities) on _____days” to answer the questions “What do you do on _____days?”
  4. Conduct a class survey on weekly activities and report the findings.
